16 countries as partners of SPLISS on the SPLISS 2013 Conference

On 13/14 November the SPLISS Conference on ‘Elite Sport Success: society boost or not?’, is to be hosted by the city of Antwerp (Belgium)

On behalf of the SPLISS network the local organizing committee invites you to submit abstracts to be considered for presentation

The conference consists of two major themes, regarding elite sports policies and strategies towards success (including the latest results of the SPLISS study in 15 countries) and the role of elite sport for society. This includes a specific focus towards cities and how they can generate an added value through elite sport. Thus it brings together academics/researchers, sport policy makers, sport consultants, major sport event organizers, city and destination marketers, representatives from National Olympic Committees, IOC, National and International Sport Governing Bodies as well as elite sport coaches.

The program offers room for delegates to present:

  • Scientific and professional practice abstract/paper presentations in both topical sessions (abstracts only);
  • workshops (abstracts and/or papers where specified);
  • poster presentations (oral, abstracts only).

Topics of interest for abstract submission include, but are not restricted to, the following:

  • The social value of elite sport
  • Elite sport policy & high performance-management
  • The role of cities in elite sport & city marketing
  • Disability elite sport policy (paralympics); systems and policy
  • Elite Sport in developing countries

The Scientific Committee reserves the right to decide on the final topic grouping upon abstracts selection. The accepted abstracts will be published in the official conference proceedings. A selection of abstracts will be invited to submit a full paper for a special issue on social value in a scientific peer reviewed journal. All information on abstract procedures can be found on the conference website.

Your abstract can only be submitted to the Chair of the Scientific Committee, Prof.Dr. Veerle De Bosscher (Vrije Universiteit Brussel/Utrecht University), at vdebossc@vub.ac.be.  The submission deadline is Saturday 15 June.

Go to the official website of the conference for more information.
